About Us

Who I am

Hi, and welcome! I am Olympia, the founder of Psyche and Soma Wellness, as well as a high school teacher, yogi, and self-proclaimed philosopher passionate about literature, philosophy, neuroscience, and psychology. I strive to connect with my students on a deeper level, fostering genuine curiosity and a hunger for knowledge. In today's world, I have noticed both with my students and adult interactions that learning has become performative, hindering true exploration and understanding. Fortunately, I have had breakthroughs with my students and have been able to appeal to their innate curiosity. I want to extend this passion for learning and connection to adults, as our society is often consumed with instant gratification and surface-level knowledge. It is important to take the time to reflect, connect, and engage with books, art, ourselves, and each other to truly understand the human experience and live lives that guide us back to our wholeness.

Through my healing journey, I have discovered that mind-body unity is a crucial aspect of overall health and well-being. The connection between the mind and body is complex and interdependent. When the mind and body are in harmony, it can lead to improved physical health, reduced stress, and increased mental clarity. It is important to prioritize activities that promote mind-body unity, such as exercise, meditation, and mindfulness practices. By taking care of both our mental and physical health, we can achieve a greater sense of balance and overall wellness, and I hope to foster dialogue that encourages awareness of how much our body communicates with us.

Ever since I completed grad school, finding pockets of creativity and deep, meaningful conversation became increasingly more difficult, which is crazy to think about because  up until recently, I was living in New York City. However, it appears that the myth of urban loneliness has taken hold of us more than ever, especially in light of the ongoing pandemic. My life got busy, demands piled up, and the overwhelm of modern life untethered me from what makes me feel invigorated, inspired, and whole. The truth is, we are all feeling a bit restless and lost, unsure of how to fill the void that is created by the fast-paced, modern-day lifestyle that we have become accustomed to. It seems that the constant hustle and bustle of city life has left us yearning for something more, something deeper and more meaningful. Then, as I was teaching a unit on modernism, the Paris salons of the early 20th century came to mind and served as my inspiration. This is what we so desperately need! Some version of THIS!, I thought.   The salons were vibrant spaces where artists, writers, and intellectuals gathered to exchange ideas and engage in lively discussions. These salons provided a platform for creative expression and intellectual exploration, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among like-minded individuals. In the midst of a rapidly changing world, we need to embrace our essential humanness and connect with others in meaningful ways. Today, we need a similar platform to address mental health issues that are exacerbated by living in an isolated state. A space where people can share their experiences, ideas, and knowledge to promote mental well-being. Such a platform can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and provide support for those who need it through community. The Paris salons, with their emphasis on dialogue and creativity, can serve as a model for navigating the challenges of the 21st century. By combining these traditional values with modern ideas on mental health, we can encourage a sense of shared purpose and promote mental well-being.
